2 Kings 12:18

12:18 King Jehoash of Judah collected all the sacred items that his ancestors Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah, kings of Judah, had consecrated, as well as his own sacred items and all the gold that could be found in the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and the royal palace. He sent it all ¹  to King Hazael of Syria, who then withdrew ²  from Jerusalem.

16:8 Then Ahaz took the silver and gold that were ³  in the Lord’s temple and in the treasuries of the royal palace and sent it as tribute ⁴  to the king of Assyria.

15:2 He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. ¹⁵  His mother’s name was Jecholiah, who was from Jerusalem.

16:2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem. ¹⁶  He did not do what pleased the Lord his God, in contrast to his ancestor David. ¹⁷

The translation assumes this change.

[15:19]  ¹² tn The Hebrew term כִּכָּר (kikkar, “circle”) refers generally to something that is round. When used of metals it can refer to a disk-shaped weight made of the metal or to a standard unit of weight, generally regarded as a talent. Since the accepted weight for a talent of metal is about 75 pounds, this would have amounted to about 75,000 pounds of silver (cf. NCV “about seventy-four thousand pounds”); NLT “thirty-seven tons”; CEV “over thirty tons”; TEV “34,000 kilogrammes.”
